Also known as J. S. Bach; Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten (Choral) BWV 691.
History
A decorated singing line floats above slower supporting voices. Listen to a whole phrase rather than each small note: the ornaments should enrich the tune without interrupting its direction. The pickup leads naturally into the first full measure.

How to practise it
- Bring out the singing line while keeping the slower support quiet and connected.
- Start ornaments slowly enough to hear the main note and its continuation.
How hard is it
Three independent voices begin in the pickup; the following measure adds sixteenth- and thirty-second-note decorations. The short extent does not remove the challenge of sustaining inner voices while making 22 ornaments sound unforced.
