History
The Paris Chopin Society places the twelve-study Op. 10 collection between 1829 to 1832 and records its first publication in 1833. A later Richault print, catalogued around 1860, names Franz Liszt as the set's dedicatee. The collection range does not give each study an independent completion year.

What to listen for
The middle grows less settled
Hear the middle’s changing harmonic colour from borrowed chords, without assuming an unestablished return scheme.
How to practise it
Separate the detached upper answers from the wide, connected lower pattern.
- Count the rests while playing just the detached answers, aiming for light attacks with predictable timing.
- Practise one six-note pattern at a time, locating its changing outer note before joining two patterns softly.
How hard is it
Wide left-hand accompaniment patterns require relaxed coordination while the upper melody remains expressive.
