History
The Paris Chopin Society places the twelve-study Op. 25 collection between 1832 to 1836 and records its first publication in 1837. A later Richault print, catalogued around 1860, names Marie de Flavigny d'Agoult as the set's dedicatee. The collection range does not give each study an independent completion year.

What to listen for
Quick cells ride broader lower groups
The upper pickup leads into neighbouring-note triplet cells over slower lower groups. Hear their different scale of movement within the same phrase.
Chromatic cells build a wider swell
Changing upper cells and lower broken chords become more chromatic and grow. Listen for the larger swell through the quick repeating shapes.
A familiar cell extends into descent
Opening-related cells return and extend into a chromatic descent. Hear the connection between the familiar figure and its longer continuation.
The last descent settles into held harmony
The slowing upper line leads toward an arpeggiated F-minor close. Hear the sustained arrival without deriving a practice speed from hidden output commands.
How to practise it
Hear the chromatic upper triplets against the wider lower triplet outline.
- Play the three-note cells slowly and name their middle and last pitches; keep the same pulse when the neighbour changes.
- Practise the lower three-note destinations independently, then combine one upper triplet group at a time.
How hard is it
Fast light figuration and differing rhythmic groupings require precise coordination without heavy accents.
