History
PTNA's account places the beginnings of some Op. 28 preludes around 1836 and reports completion of the collection in Mallorca in 1838. The autograph collection was sent to Paris in January 1839, and publication followed in 1839. This is a history of the set, not evidence that every prelude began on the island.

What to listen for
Paired triplet motion rises in register
Both parts move together through opening figures and changing starts. Hear their shared direction as the range rises.
Altered figures form a continuing chain
Changing triplet cells shift the line through different pitches. Follow the longer route rather than accenting every cell alike.
The figures contract before descending
The closing movement narrows around E-flat and falls. Hear the contraction as preparation for the last response.
A low short note leaves written space
The final low note is followed by rests. Hear its release without stretching the closing gesture into another held phrase.
How to practise it
Coordinate the parallel pattern while keeping its triplet pulse
- Align the parallel motion
How hard is it
Fast low-register motion demands rhythmic clarity, evenness and controlled tonal weight.
