What to listen for
The lower track begins before the upper tune, which arrives on a short offbeat note. The upper line then shoots into a much higher register. In the second window, both tracks briefly align in compact moving figures, providing a change from the opening's wide-ranging flourish.
How to practise it
- Keep the opening lower octave and chord attacks even while placing the upper entry at quarter position 0.75. Practise that delayed entrance repeatedly before continuing into the higher notes.
- Learn the rising upper burst at quarter positions 1.25 through 2.5 as a connected gesture. Plan the register change slowly before increasing speed.
