What to listen for

  1. A slow low-register introduction

The low pickup and tied response lead toward a fermata. Hear the sustained gesture before the quicker song begins.

  2. A quicker paired-note song

The quicker song has a repeated opening and different endings. Hear the paired-note line without losing the contrast with the slower introduction.

  3. A changed recall expands the song

The opening song returns lower with a changed upper expansion. Follow its familiar contour through the altered register and continuation.

  4. The introduction returns before a short reply

The source slows back toward the introductory gesture, then gives a brief quicker response and held G. Hear the contrast between the broad return and compact close.

How to practise it

Slow decorated introduction; new detached rhythm after introduction.

  1. Practise the quiet introductory approach independently of the later fast section; no compulsory MIDI speed is inferred.
  2. Rehearse the detached pattern as a new gesture rather than continuing the introduction articulation.

How hard is it

Level 6, estimated

Sustaining a songful line through a more developed accompaniment requires mature balance and phrase control.
