What to listen for
A dotted call climbs and falls back
The opening gesture rises through shorter notes before returning downward. Hear its connected shape across the changing durations.
A higher contrast includes inner movement
The contrasting pair leads to held upper sound with a moving inner layer. Listen through the sustained note to that response.
The contrasting material returns in writing
The higher episode comes back within the continuing phrase. Compare its familiar contour with the intervening opening recall.
An opening-related cadence ends the piece
The final recall settles the opening shape into its cadence. Hear the full closing gesture without adding a fermata the source does not declare.
How to practise it
Unequal short upper rhythm; lower eighths become longer pairs.
- Practise the unequal onset into the short notes and preserve the later silence.
- Rehearse the lower change of duration separately from the upper small-note stream.
How hard is it
Dotted figures, short pulse groups and changing register need to sound like one flowing melody. Clean positioning and articulation matter more than the compact length.
