Also known as Beethoven, Allegro from Sonata in F Op. 10 No. 2; Piano Sonata No. 6, Op. 10 No. 2: I. Allegro; Sonata No. 6 (1st Movement: Allegro).
History
This Allegro opens Beethoven's F-major Sonata No. 6, Op. 10 No. 2. The three Op. 10 sonatas were completed by summer 1798 and dedicated to Countess Anna Margarete von Browne-Camus, a documented point of context for a movement whose title otherwise gives little history away.

What to listen for
A small turn keeps recurring
Listen for the persistent turn figure within the developing passage.
A pause precedes an unexpected return
Hear the pause and the return in a different key rather than assuming home has already arrived.
The home key is recovered
Listen for the tonic’s recovery after the displaced return as the closing route unfolds.
How to practise it
Changing upper chord over a repeated low group; brief turn after a released chord.
- Practise the low group evenly, then hear the changed upper outline as a small lift rather than a wholly new heavy attack.
- Rehearse the short 72, 71, 74 approach into the longer 72, preserving the preceding separation rather than joining everything by default.
How hard is it
Quick changes of character, crisp articulation and agile passagework require flexible coordination.
