The short answer
An early teaching print survives in an archive. School of Velocity, Op. 299: No. 4 is an etude by Carl Czerny from the Romantic era. PlayPiano puts it at Level 5, an estimate.

Also known as Czerny - The School of Velocity (Op. 299) - no. 4.
History
The Swiss National Library holds an Op. 299 first book covering Nos. 1-10, catalogued as a Diabelli print from approximately 1833. No. 4 falls within that documented book, although our digital edition's descent from it is unproved.

What to listen for
Neighbouring-note figures climb through registers
Hear the common small shape across successively higher placement rather than accenting every new level.
Upper turns lead into falling replies
The upper figures turn before descending responses. Follow the change in the phrase direction.
The upper pattern begins another climb
Related figures return above and rise again. Recognise their contour after the lower continuation.
High gestures yield to a lower close
The closing figures reach high before the last lower response. Hear that register change complete the phrase.
How to practise it
Shape each small turn while keeping the compound pulse.
- Speak the two large pulses, then place each rest and figure inside them.
- Practise the lower chord-and-rest pattern without pedal before adding the upper figures.
- Connect the examined opening at a comfortable tempo only when its separate layers feel settled.
How hard is it
No. 4 is provisionally another intermediate continuity target. Its own edition needs a separate assessment despite belonging to the same collection.
