What to listen for
Upper runs rise and answer downward
The opening alternates ascent and descending responses. Hear the larger exchange through the quick notes.
Higher and lower gestures alternate
Related shapes answer at different registers. Listen for their relationship without assigning a fixed active hand.
Both layers run before an upper descent
Simultaneous motion develops before the upper response falls. Keep the lower movement audible beneath it.
A final sweep becomes a chordal close
The last sweep leads into held chordal sound. Hear the difference between the moving figure and its arrival.
How to practise it
Keep the overlapping ascending scales continuous.
- Practise the last notes of one run into the first notes of the next.
- Practise lower notes and rests against a steady pulse, then add one upper run at a time.
- Connect the examined opening at a comfortable tempo only when its separate layers feel settled.
How hard is it
No. 5 is provisionally a further sustained-study destination. Its retained native packet has1184 notes; that supports an endurance review question, not a computed grade.
