History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
Space above a fast cycle
The upper A, C, F and A arrive with space between them, while the lower F/C/A/C cycle moves much faster. Hear the open upper gestures floating over one continuous lower pattern.
How to practise it
- Practise the lower F/C/A/C cycle evenly, then place the more widely spaced upper notes without compressing the gaps between them.
How hard is it
Widely spaced upper arrivals and very fine lower broken-note cycles require two different kinds of timing control. The native upper short-note pairs add subdivision changes, supporting an intermediate estimate.
