History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
A brief lead-in changes the arrival
The upper F is very short before the higher D arrives, while the lower part starts its own B flat/C/B flat/A motion. Hear the small lead-in as a preparation, not as a reason to rush the supporting line.
How to practise it
- Practise the longer upper arrivals with the steady lower line first, then add the very short lead-in events without moving the accompaniment's pulse.
How hard is it
Very short upper lead-in events precede wider-spaced melodic arrivals while a separate lower stream stays regular. Their offset native onsets and contrasting rates call for controlled coordination.
