History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
A tiny turn opens the gesture
The opening upper F/G/F/E/F sequence happens quickly before the B flat arrival. Lower chords arrive more slowly. Listen for a quick turn that leads somewhere, rather than an evenly accented string of notes.
How to practise it
- Practise the short upper turn as a compact gesture followed by a clear arrival; this is guidance from encoded events, not an asserted written ornament sign.
How hard is it
Rapid upper neighbouring-note turns use especially fine native durations, and the lower part combines chord arrivals with its own short connecting figures. Coordinating changes in density supports an upper-intermediate estimate.
