History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
Repetition climbs to a new level
Three short upper D attacks lead to a longer D, then the same idea moves to G. The lower layer continues its G/B/D cycle. Listen for grouped repetition travelling upward, not one unbroken repeated-note rattle.
How to practise it
- Practise each short repeated group lightly, then move to its next pitch while the lower broken pattern keeps going.
How hard is it
Repeated upper events move in small groups while the lower part combines sustained notes with fine broken-note cycles. Keeping repetition light and the layers independent supports an intermediate estimate.
