History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
Harmony rests on a quick line
The upper B/D pair repeats and changes to C/F sharp and B/G, while the lower part keeps moving through short G, A, B and C events. Listen for the upper changes over one flowing lower gesture.
How to practise it
- Practise the lower G/A/B/C figure evenly, then add upper paired arrivals while keeping their longer shape audible.
How hard is it
A continuous, very fine lower line moves beneath upper pairs and chords. Balancing dense lower motion against more spaced upper harmony supports an intermediate estimate.
