History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
Two-note groups carry the rhythm
The upper F sharp/A pair repeats before stepping down to E/G and D/F sharp. The lower part initially gives isolated, more spacious support. Hear each pair as one voice and the changing shape as the phrase.
How to practise it
- Practise the paired notes as single coordinated arrivals, then compare the upper opening with the later lower-track pattern without assuming a prescribed fingering.
How hard is it
Repeated upper pairs in equal three-part subdivisions are later answered by similar paired motion in the lower track. Their hand-independent layers and coordinated double-note attacks support an upper-intermediate estimate.
