History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
Two notes answer together
The upper pairs move from C/E to D/F and back, with little gaps between the gestures. The lower C/G pair arrives more slowly. Listen for the small upper exchange without making its accompaniment equally busy.
How to practise it
- Practise each upper pair as one coordinated arrival, keeping the repeated return shape even against the slower lower events.
How hard is it
Quick upper note-pairs move together and return repeatedly to the same shape, against slower lower chord events. Even pair attacks and a stable slower layer support an intermediate estimate.
