History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
A flutter above a held bass
The upper F and G alternate rapidly at the start, but the lower F is held while C and A move above it. Listen for the flutter as a decoration over a stable base, not as the whole phrase.
How to practise it
- Group the upper neighbouring-note alternation into an even gesture; keep each return quiet enough that the longer lower notes remain audible.
How hard is it
The upper F/G alternation moves through several very fine native subdivisions, while the lower part combines long bass notes and moving inner notes. Coordination and quiet evenness justify a mid-intermediate estimate.
