History
Czerny's Op. 821 was first published in 1852 as a set of 160 short keyboard exercises. Its original subtitle presents the eight-measure studies as a way to learn common figures and passages quickly and improve reading at sight. The selected Mutopia files derive from a later 1888 Peters print, not from the first edition.

What to listen for
A high line falls in one sweep
The upper line starts at a high C and descends through B flat, A, G, F, E and D. The lower part moves more slowly. Listen for one long downward sweep rather than a separate beat for every pitch.
How to practise it
- Group the high descending line into a single falling gesture, keeping the lower support quiet and consistent.
How hard is it
The upper line descends through a broad high register in regular short events while the lower part keeps longer bass notes and broken support. Register navigation and phrase continuity support an intermediate estimate.
