History
K. 15aa is item 26 of the London notebook: the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe lists it as a keyboard piece in B-flat major. Mozart wrote these short ideas while the family was in London in 1764; the newer Köchel catalogue connects much of the notebook with Leopold Mozart's serious illness there. This is a notebook component, not a movement from a finished published sonata cycle.

What to listen for
A held opening, then quick pairs
The upper D and B-flat begin together, followed by quick alternating pairs while the low octave sound gives way to a rest. Hear the contrast between the broad attack and the quick reply.
The repeated note starts a descent
The next upper phrase repeats F before stepping down. Keep the repeated beginning connected to the descent and the lower register changes.
How to practise it
- Play the opening D and B-flat together for their written value, then the quick alternating notes alone. Add the low octave sound and release it into the written rest while the upper reply continues.
- Practise the repeated F notes and following descent alone, keeping their different written lengths. Then add the lower register changes and check that the descent begins at the same point in the pulse.
How hard is it
The opening upper dyad leads into quick sixteenth-note pairs, then repeated upper notes and a descending figure. Lower octave-separated attacks and rests require coordinated articulation and clear contrasts.
