The dating range should not be replaced by one certain year merely because a separately described autograph carries its own date. This movement retains the parent sonata's historical context.

What to listen for

  1. Opening phrases rise above broken figures

The opening phrases receive higher gestures over broken-note movement. Hear the melodic direction through the smaller accompanying notes.

  2. A recalled response reaches the repeat

The response returns in writing before the first repeat close. Listen for its familiarity while keeping the written route distinct from the melody.

  3. The opening comes back after changing material

The opening returns following the developed continuation. Compare its contour with the first phrases rather than assigning an unsupported formal label.

  4. Changing contours complete the closing phrase

The last changing contours lead toward the final repeat close. Hear their ending direction without treating the repeat as another new theme.

How to practise it

Keep the decorated melody clear above quiet repeated support.

  1. Practise the final short run into the G and its following rest.
  2. Play the lower pattern at an even quiet volume before adding the decoration.
  3. Connect the examined phrase at a comfortable tempo while keeping its stated layers and releases distinct.

How hard is it

Level 7, estimated

Singing phrases and sparkling passages need evenness, crisp articulation and clear Classical structure.
